Paint protection film, explained

The invisible layer that takes the hit.

Paint protection film is a clear, high-performance urethane layer applied to the most vulnerable painted panels. It is designed to absorb everyday abuse — rock chips, road debris, light scuffs, bug etching, and UV exposure — so your factory paint does not have to.

01

Real impact protection

Defends high-impact surfaces where highway miles and daily use show first.

02

Self-healing clarity

Light surface marks dissipate with heat while the film stays glossy and clear.

03

Preserve the finish

Maintain the paint you paid for while keeping the vehicle easy to maintain.

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know about protecting your vehicle with paint protection film.

How long does paint protection film last?

STEK DYNOshield paint protection film comes with a 10-year manufacturer warranty against yellowing, cracking, and peeling. With proper care and maintenance, the film can last the lifetime of your vehicle’s ownership. The self-healing top coat helps maintain its appearance by removing minor scratches and swirl marks when exposed to heat.

Will PPF damage my car’s paint?

No, professionally installed paint protection film will not damage your vehicle’s paint. In fact, it protects your factory finish from rock chips, scratches, and environmental contaminants. When it’s time to remove the film, it comes off cleanly without leaving residue or damaging the paint underneath. Our installers use proper techniques to ensure safe application and removal.

How long does installation take?

Installation time varies depending on the package you choose:

  • Full Front PPF: 1–2 days
  • Track Pack PPF: 2–3 days
  • Full Vehicle PPF: 5+ days

We never rush the installation process to ensure perfect results. Your vehicle will need to cure for 24 hours after installation before it can be driven.

Can I wash my car after PPF installation?

You should wait 7 days after installation before washing your vehicle. This allows the film to fully cure and bond to the paint surface. After the curing period, you can wash your car as normal. We recommend hand washing or touchless car washes for the best results. Avoid high-pressure washers directly on the film edges, and never use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

What’s the difference between PPF and ceramic coating?

Paint protection film (PPF) is a thick, physical barrier (8 mils) that absorbs impact from rock chips, scratches, and road debris. Ceramic coating is a thin liquid polymer that bonds to your paint, providing hydrophobic properties, UV protection, and enhanced gloss, but minimal impact protection.

For maximum protection, we recommend combining both: PPF on high-impact areas with ceramic coating applied over the film and on remaining painted surfaces. All our PPF packages include complimentary ceramic coating over the film for enhanced gloss and easier maintenance.
